Newborn Initial Appointment (Up To 6 Weeks Of Age)
Why Chiropractic Care for Newborns?
The birth process, whether it’s vaginal or via cesarean section, can sometimes lead to misalignments or imbalances in your baby’s spine and nervous system. Chiropractic care is designed to support your baby’s developing body, helping them thrive with a balanced and aligned spine, leading to better overall health.
We are committed to providing the highest standard of care for your newborn, ensuring that your baby feels safe, comfortable, and supported every step of the way. If you have any questions or concerns before your appointment, don’t hesitate to reach out to our office. We look forward to supporting you and your baby on this journey.
Health History Review:
The first step will involve a detailed consultation where we will ask about your baby's birth story, any complications, or concerns that may have occurred during pregnancy or delivery (such as forceps or vacuum-assisted delivery, cesarean section, or a breech position). We will also discuss any early signs of discomfort, feeding difficulties, or other issues you may have noticed.
Gentle Physical Examination:
We will conduct a thorough yet gentle examination of your baby’s spine, posture, and overall musculoskeletal health. This includes checking for signs of tension, asymmetry, or discomfort, which are common in newborns after a challenging delivery. We will also assess your baby’s head shape, neck movement, and muscle tone to ensure proper development.
Safe and Gentle Adjustments:
If necessary, very gentle and safe chiropractic adjustments may be performed. These techniques are tailored specifically for newborns and involve minimal pressure, often no more than what you would use to test the ripeness of a tomato. These adjustments help relieve any tension or misalignment in the spine and nervous system that may have resulted from the birthing process.
Parental Education and Guidance:
We will take the time to educate you on your baby’s development, offering advice on gentle techniques and recommendations that may help with common newborn issues such as colic, reflux, or difficulty breastfeeding. You will also be given guidance on things like tummy time, sleep positions, and gentle stretches to support your baby’s development.
Care Plan Discussion:
Based on the assessment, if further care is recommended, we will discuss a gentle and tailored treatment plan for your baby. We will go over the frequency of visits, expected outcomes, and how chiropractic care can support your baby's health and well-being.
Child Initial Appointment (Age 3 to 12)
Health History Review:
We will begin by reviewing your child’s health history, including any concerns you may have about their growth, development, posture, or any specific issues they may be experiencing (such as back pain, headaches, digestive issues, or sports-related injuries). We will also discuss their birth history, as any complications during birth can affect their spinal health.
Physical Assessment:
A comprehensive, non-invasive examination will be conducted to assess your child’s posture, alignment, and overall musculoskeletal health. We will look for signs of misalignment, imbalance, or discomfort and assess how they move, sit, and play. This helps us identify any areas of concern that could be addressed with chiropractic care.
Gentle Chiropractic Adjustments:
If chiropractic care is deemed appropriate, we will perform gentle spinal adjustments that are specifically tailored to your child’s age, size, and developmental stage. These adjustments are safe, effective, and designed to promote proper spinal alignment and nervous system function, which can help with pain relief, improved mobility, and overall wellness.
Education and Recommendations:
We will take time to explain your child’s condition, the goals of their chiropractic care, and any lifestyle recommendations to support their health. This may include posture tips, stretches, exercises, and advice on nutrition or sleep to promote optimal well-being as they grow.
Treatment Plan Discussion:
After assessing your child’s condition, we will discuss a personalized treatment plan. We’ll go over how many visits may be necessary, the expected outcomes, and how chiropractic care can support your child's health, whether it’s for pain relief, injury recovery, or maintaining overall wellness.
Pediatric Initial Appointment (6 Weeks to Age 3)
Health History and Consultation:
We will begin by gathering a detailed health history for your child, including any concerns you may have regarding their development, posture, mobility, or overall health. It is important that you provide any relevant medical information, including past injuries, surgeries, or conditions that might impact their chiropractic care.
Physical Assessment:
A comprehensive, non-invasive physical examination will be conducted. This will include evaluating your child’s posture, movement patterns, muscle tone, and spinal alignment. We will also assess any areas of discomfort or concern, ensuring that your child is comfortable throughout the process.
Gentle Chiropractic Examination:
Based on the findings from the health history and physical exam, we will determine the most appropriate approach for chiropractic care. Our techniques are gentle, safe, and specifically designed for children, ensuring that each adjustment is age-appropriate.
Treatment Plan Discussion:
If chiropractic care is recommended, we will discuss a personalized treatment plan designed to address your child’s specific needs. We will explain the goals of care, the expected benefits, and any potential risks or side effects. You’ll have the opportunity to ask any questions and discuss the next steps in your child’s care.
Parental Involvement:
Your active participation in your child’s care is essential. We will keep you informed throughout the process and encourage open communication. If you have any concerns or questions at any time, we are here to help and guide you.
We are committed to providing the highest level of care to help your child feel their best and support their long-term health and development. If you have any questions before your appointment, feel free to contact us. We look forward to meeting you and your child!
Adolescent Initial Appointment (Age 12-17)
Health History Review:
We will begin by discussing your adolescent’s health history, including any concerns you may have about their growth, posture, sports activities, or specific issues they may be experiencing, such as back pain, headaches, neck tension, or fatigue. We will also ask about any previous injuries or conditions that could be affecting their body.
Physical Examination:
A thorough, non-invasive physical examination will be conducted to evaluate your adolescent’s posture, spinal alignment, and range of motion. We will also assess their muscle tone, flexibility, and how they move, sit, and stand. This helps us identify areas of misalignment or discomfort that may be contributing to their symptoms.
Gentle Chiropractic Adjustments:
If chiropractic care is appropriate, we will perform gentle and specific spinal adjustments tailored to your adolescent’s age, size, and unique needs. These adjustments help improve spinal alignment, enhance nervous system function, and promote overall health. Chiropractic care can be particularly helpful in addressing issues related to poor posture, sports injuries, or growing pains.
Education and Recommendations:
We will take time to explain your adolescent’s condition and how chiropractic care can help. We will also provide lifestyle recommendations, including posture tips, stretching exercises, and advice on maintaining proper alignment while studying, working on screens, or participating in physical activities. Educating your adolescent on healthy habits will help them maintain long-term spinal health.
Treatment Plan Discussion:
After the assessment, we will discuss a personalized treatment plan that suits your adolescent’s needs. We’ll go over the expected outcomes, the frequency of visits, and how chiropractic care can support their active lifestyle, improve posture, alleviate pain, and prevent future issues.
